I was so impressed by the genuine warmth and sense of connection the team at Cafe2U have managed to create among their network, and there was a real buzz and sense of optimism in the air. I got the chance to speak with quite a few franchisees, too, and was amazed by how many different backgrounds they come from, and how well they all got on together.

That sense of togetherness and collaboration is such an important part of what a franchise like Cafe2U can offer you. Every single person there was an independent business owner in charge of their own enterprise, but none of them were going it alone. They have the support of both the Cafe2U team, and a network of likeminded people who shared the same goals.

Of course, it wasn’t all about socialising. It was also a fantastic opportunity for everyone to share problem solving and best practice, and tap into the expertise of the head office team.

Giving you the confidence and tools to grow your business

This was one of the biggest themes of the day. Cafe2U CEO, Martyn Ward, gave a great talk on all the latest developments in the coffee market and how franchisees can tap into these insights to drive more sales.

This was far more than just theory, and included real practical advice, and it’s already paying off big time. In just the first week since the conference, franchisees who attended have already seen a big increase in their sales. On average, their revenue has risen by an amazing 19.7%, with one franchisee seeing a staggering 37.8% increase in sales. In just one week!

This realty does show just how valuable these kind of franchisee support events can be when they’re done right, and the Cafe2U franchise sure knows how to pull it out of the bag.

Celebrating success and achievement

Another big part of the day was the annual awards ceremony where the franchise recognises some of the biggest achievements their network has achieved over the year. The awards are all about giving franchisees the opportunity to do their best, and be recognised for it. It also helps to show everyone what they can achieve and aspire towards with a Cafe2U franchise!

There was no shortage of success stories, but these two really stood out for me:

Franchise Partner of the Year – Amanda & Steve Lawrence, Cafe2U Braintree

In fact, this is the second year in a row coffee power couple Amanda & Steve have won this top award! A first ever for Cafe2U.

CEO Martyn praised their dedication in following the business model with a serious “can do” attitude, and how they are constantly working towards improving their business. The most amazing for me about these guys is that they had no experience of the café business before joining. In fact, they both worked in risk assessment for a major bank! If they can ditch a career like that for a new life with Cafe2U, there must be something in it!

Outstanding Achievement – Paul Newman, Cafe2U Rochester

This is a really great story. Not only is Paul one of the longest running Cafe2U franchisees with 14 successful years under his belt, but his business is set to become the first 2nd generation franchise in Cafe2U! His son, Henry, is getting more and more involved in the business, and hopes to take it over from his very proud father someday.

In this day and age, there’s not many people who can say they’ve built a business strong enough to pass onto the next generation!
