My day on the road with a Cafe2U franchisee… and the secret of his success.

Which is why I recently spent the morning with one of Cafe2U’s top performing franchisees, Eric, who runs the Trafford (south-west Manchester) territory. Eric has a number of regular routes around his region, and often does between £1500 and £2500 worth of business every day. I wanted to learn not only how he goes about a regular day, but also how franchisees like him are so successful.

There’s one big thing I learnt after joining him on his route:

Cafe2U is about a whole lot more than just serving coffee (and snacks!)

Eric always goes out of his way to make sure his customers’ coffee break is really something special. His van arriving outside offices is an event in itself. Not just because the coffee he serves is sensational (which it is!), and not just because of the incredible convenience of having a top-quality coffee outlet come to you instead of having to go out and find one, but because he really engages with all his customers.

He knows all his regular’s names, and knows their usual order. He is always ready with a smile and a chat alongside every fantastic brew, and it was obvious to me that his arrival is a major fixture in everyone’s morning. The drinks and snacks may well be the star of the show with any Cafe2U franchise, but it is this relationship with customers that keeps them coming back for more, day after day – even in the colder weather!
